Philanthropist Peter Alfond Dies

Maine philanthropist Peter Alfond died earlier this month at age 65. He contracted malaria on a recent trip to Africa with his family.

President Obama Designates National Monument in Maine

On August 24th, the White House announced the establishment of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument east of Baxter State Park in north-central Maine. The land was donated by the Elliotsville Plantation, Inc., the foundation established by philanthropist Roxanne Quimby and her family.
