Grant Research
The most important piece of finding a funder that is a good fit for your organization is doing thorough research. We are happy to offer nonprofits in Maine resources and help related to grant research.
The Directory of Maine Grantmakers
The Maine Philanthropy Center produces the Directory of Maine Grantmakers with information on foundations that give in Maine. This Directory is available in an online version to all our members, and is also for sale in a print version.
Funding Information Network Databases
Through our partnership with Candid, MPC has access to national databases of funders and grants at our office location in the USM Glickman Family Library. To make a reservation for an in-person appointment to use Foundation Directory Online (FDO), please contact us at mpc@mainephilanthropy.org.
Foundation Directory Essential is available for remote limited access through the end of 2022 by reservation only. Through our reservation system, you will be able to reserve guaranteed 24 hours to use FDO Essential. Contact us with any questions on how to access this free online grant research tool.
Tutorials and other offerings
We highly recommend coming to our free Grant Research Tutorials which offer guidance on how to use our resources to start your research process. You are also welcome to visit our office to use our resources -- please make an appointment by contacting mpc@mainephilanthropy.org as our staff is often working remotely and we want to ensure someone is here to help you.
If you are looking for federal grant opportunities they will be listed at Grants.gov, and if you are not able to come into our office to utilize our database, you can look at foundation tax forms using these resources.
