Please join peers and colleagues funding the Downeast communities for our first gathering of 2024. This meeting will provide you an opportunity to share about your Downeast funding priorities this year and connect with others working in this region.

During this meeting we will be introduced to the Greater East Grand Economic Council and their work in the region.

Greater East Grand Economic Council

Greater East Grant Economic Councilis a non-profit dedicated to fostering community development, economic growth, and cultural enrichment in the Greater East Grand area of Maine. The Greater East Grand Region (GEGR) was designed from the beginning to be a citizen-led effort involving the towns and residents of a multi-jurisdictional territory of remote rural Maine. Their mission is to collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and community members to create a vibrant and sustainable region.

Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, we work towards enhancing the quality of life for residents, promoting tourism, supporting entrepreneurship, and preserving the natural beauty of the region. Their programs and events aim to celebrate the unique heritage and diverse talents of our community while addressing key challenges and opportunities for growth. Their three year goals include:

  • Economic Vitality – stable local businesses and investment in entrepreneurs.
  • Continue to invest in East Grand School workforce development student programs.
  • Continue to build community collaboration capacity in the region.

With a focus on inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration, Greater East Grand Economic Council strives to be a catalyst for positive change and a trusted resource for individuals and organizations seeking to make a difference in our dynamic and thriving community.
