Presented by Connecticut Council for Philanthropy
Cosponsored by Maine Philanthropy Center in partnership with Grantmakers Council of Rhode Island, Nellie Mae Education Foundation, and Philanthropy Massachusetts

The recent rash of mass shootings has once again reminded us of the gun violence epidemic in the United States. While there is a small but growing number of philanthropic funders who are working to address this problem, the impact of mass violence on everyday life requires a larger call to action across the country and our state.

Philanthropy has an important role to play in developing solutions to this problem. There is a role every funder can play. Whether it’s advocacy to strengthen our social safety net, advancing community conversations on race and racism, supporting schools to better address the mental health needs of students, funding efforts to strengthen our mental health systems, or growing civic leadership, each of us can be part of this effort.

Join CCP, Grantmakers Council of Rhode Island, Nellie Mae Education Foundation, and Philanthropy Massachusetts for a special community conversation on philanthropy's role and response to mass shootings and violence. We will feature reflections from philanthropic leaders in the areas of education/youth; public health/healthy communities; and civil society/democracy/social justice.
