Tuesday, April 16, 2024

The Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program application portal is open as of Monday, April 15th, 2024. This grant program of the Sadie and Harry Davis Foundation focuses on the advancement of Maine children’s health, ensuring access to needed services for underserved populations. The program is named in honor of its greatest champion, Pat Klingenstein who, at the age of ninety-three, passed away in February 2023. Born and raised in southern Maine, Pat once said, “We want to help the children of Maine, particularly those most in need. This program is a way we can do that."

Updated guidelines and requirements for the Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program are available on the Foundation’s website. The online application is open on Monday, April 15th at 9:00 a.m. and will close on May 31st, 12:00 midnight. The Foundation’s mission is to advance the health of Maine’s children. The Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program annually awards multiple grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. Since inception in 2007, the Program has awarded nearly $1.5 million to 169 projects. A catalog of funded organizations/projects can be found on the Foundation’s website.

The Foundation has made the following notable changes to the Small Grant application process:

  • The request range is now $5,000 - $25,000;
  • A 2-year waiting period has been reinstated (2021 recipients can reapply in 2024; 2022 and 2023 recipients must wait to reapply in 2025 and 2026, respectively);
  • Proposals are for a distinct 12-month project period running September 1 – August 31 with a final report due on October 31; and
  • The photo upload is now optional yet is appreciated as a visual element to the proposal.

Please note, the Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program does not fund proposals in children’s oral health. Organizations interested in addressing children’s oral health are encouraged to contact the Children’s Oral Health Network.
