Changing of the Guard on the MPC Board

Thursday, January 7, 2016

The new year brings change, and that is true of the MPC Board as well as our exercise habits!

In December, MPC bid farewell to Board Chair Peter Taylor as he prepared to move from Maine to Western Massachusetts for his new role as President of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation. Peter brought enormous insight and thoughtfulness to the MPC board and served as a mentor to many in the philanthropy community during his tenure in Maine. We wish him all the best!

We are also incredibly pleased to announce that John Shoos will take over as MPC Board Chair. John is the Executive Director of the Sam L. Cohen Foundation, one of Maine's most active foundations. Prior to joining the Sam L. Cohen Foundation, John was with the United Way of Greater Portland, most recently as Senior Vice President of Community Impact. John has been closely involved in MPC's Programs Committee and provided leadership to the public policy work in recent years, and brings additional expertise in community collaborations and early childhood issues. We're thrilled to have him at the helm of our board.
