Saint Joseph’s College of Maine is seeking a dynamic, experienced Associate Director of Development to join the Advancement team!

This key position will report to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and direct a staff of three professionals responsible for prospect research, database coordination, and events. The Associate Director will handle the annual fund, phon-a-thons, and Giving Day; direct all aspects of alumni and parent relations, including staffing the Alumni Board, developing virtual and in-person events, working with reunion classes and class agents, and developing parent volunteerism and giving. The Associate Director also works closely with the Athletic Department, providing fund raising tools and coordinating events. Essential duties

Supports the Advancement Division by:

  • Increasing current giving and participation levels of Annual Giving funding
  • Being responsible for Alumni Relations and serving as primary staff liaison to align the Alumni Association activities with the SJC Strategic Plan
  • Supporting the College’s integrated Athletics Fundraising Program and other campus fundraising efforts

Education & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Staff supervisory experience and budgeting experience a plus.

Knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of various computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Google Platform and Excel
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other similar fundraising/sales software
  • Strong understanding of social media
  • Ability to read and comprehend and analyze financial information
  • Ability to perform detail work using reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others
  • Possess a positive attitude to foster a cohesive working environment
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills
  • Proven training, coaching and mentoring abilities
  • Strong communication skills, ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
