Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine is seeking a qualified individual to fill a Weekend Relief position at the Ronald McDonald House Bangor. The on-site Weekend Relief person is responsible to oversee and coordinate the daily operations at the Ronald McDonald House for a specified period of time in a manner consistent with the mission, policies and purpose of RMHC Maine.
Weekend coverage begins at 5 PM Friday and ends at 5 PM Sunday. Weekend staff often cover 24-hour shifts, some 48-hour shifts, or shorter shifts to fill in coverage gaps. Sleeping time is designated from 11 PM to 7 AM each 24-hour shift, and the Weekend Relief suite is available for use.
Additional opportunities for shift coverage in the evenings and for overnight shifts on weekdays are available if the candidate's schedule allows.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the House Manager.
Compensation
$14/hour
Because this is a part-time, non-regular position, benefits are not provided.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required
- Ability to interact effectively, appropriately and professionally with staff, volunteers, families, support service personnel and the community;
- Ability to work independently to carry out and manage multiple projects under sometimes stressful situations;
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and exercise appropriate discretion.
Working conditions
Primarily indoor services in a home-like environment. Light housekeeping duties, checking in – checking out families, answering the phones, and overseeing the shift volunteers and volunteer groups that come to the House. Some light lifting may be required. Ability to access all areas of the House and grounds, including going up and down stairs.
