The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently awarded $47,500 to six oral health programs throughout Maine. The Foundation supports organizations and initiatives in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont that provide oral health education and dental care to uninsured and underserved communities.
In support of dental clinics and care, the Foundation grants included: $12,500 to the Dental Lifeline for their statewide Donated Dental Services Program for underserved patients; $10,000 to Mainly Teeth towards a mobile dental clinic; $5,000 to Maine Dental Health Out-Reach for a school-based oral health program offering preventive dental services to students from pre-K through 12th grade; and $5,000 to Oasis Free Dental Clinic to purchase dental supplies.
The Foundation also granted $10,000 to the Children’s Oral Health Network of Maine for their Medical Dental Integration Initiative. With the funds, the team will create a series of educational videos on oral health to be integrated into well-child visits in pediatrician offices, with the goal of increasing parent/caregiver oral health literacy beginning at birth.
In addition, a $5,000 grant was awarded to the Children’s Museum & Theater of Maine for their Healthy Halloween exhibit.
