New Ventures Maine (NVME) has an immediate opening for the full-time position of Communications and Development Manager. This position will coordinate multi-faceted external and internal communications and marketing, fund development, and alumni engagement and leadership development functions for a statewide organization. The position is based at NVME’s administrative office in UMA’s Handley Hall in Augusta and works with other Regions throughout the state. This position reports to the Executive Director, serves as a member of both the Administrative and Management teams, and work closely with other staff, Advisory Council members, program graduates, partners, and other key stakeholders.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.
Salary: A typical salary for this position is in the mid 40s, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers an excellent fringe benefits plan. This is a soft money-funded position; continuation of the position is contingent upon University needs and funding external to the University.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Development) or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- At least three years of experience and knowledge of marketing and communications, fund development, community and alumni engagement, and leadership development.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
- Highly organized and able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment with flexibility and a sense of humor.
- Ability to effectively research, plan, organize, coordinate, and manage multiple projects with varied deadlines.
- Computer Information/Technology proficiency and ability to apply it to communications management, graphic design, and distance learning.

Master’s Degree in a related field (Business Administration, Communications, Organizational Development/Management) or equivalent experience.
At least five years of experience with marketing and communications, fund development, community and alumni engagement, and leadership development, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
Advance technology proficiency, with demonstrated experience working effectively with marketing and communications, advancement, and distance learning staff, systems, and vendors.
Understanding of and commitment to inclusive education and policy development that contributes to economic security and addresses equity issues, including gender, race, and culture among other diversity, equity, and inclusion areas.
