Member Spotlight: Apex Youth Connection

Steven, Apex Bike Factory Youth Manager, and Brady, Apex Bike Factory Inventory Manager, hold their honorarium check from presenting at the Maine Philanthropy Partners Conference. Both were part of a panel of youth from Apex Youth Connection, a Biddeford organization that actively and intentionally connects youth with their communities.

Apex Youth Connection has become a regional incubator in demonstrating the power of relationships to create personal, group, and organizational transformation. Apex's job readiness program is a small business run entirely by youth -- a very real work environment in which to learn the critical skills they need in the workplace.  Their session at the conference gave us a window into this youth-led experience from the youth leading it: from basic mechanics, to honoring relationships, to equity in the workplace.

Apex "challenges comfort zones and expands perceptions, gently pushing youth to set and reach goals they never thought possible.” Their goal is "to connect kids to supportive mentors, to meaningful experiences, and to inspirational adventures that change their lives forever."
