MaineCF’s Oxford County Committee awards $39,000 in grants

Friday, May 1, 2020

The Oxford County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $39,201 in grants to seven nonprofits.

Grant recipients include:

  • Otisfield Community School, to purchase and install a new playground at the Otisfield Community School, a rural public elementary school serving students in grades pre-K through six
  • Oxford Hills Community Gardens, to work with an architect to create a master plan for the development of property to ensure compliance with ADA, Health, and Life Safety Codes
  • River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, to expand summer access to food from four to nine sites in the Greater River Valley region

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MaineCF staff worked remotely with available county/regional committee members to expedite review of proposals. Grant recipients have the choice of extending the period during which to complete the work originally proposed and/or the flexibility to use the funding in other ways to meet current, unexpected organizational needs.

The Oxford County Fund is a permanent endowment that supports projects and nonprofits that strengthen communities in the county. Applications go through the MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders. The next proposal deadline is February 15, 2021. Guidelines and a complete list of 2020 grants can be found at www.mainecf.org.

The Oxford County Fund is built through donations from the community. To donate to the fund, please visit our website at www.mainecf.org.
