Maine Inside Out (MIO) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2007.  MIO activates individuals and communities to imagine and embody freedom through art, advocacy and support, and transformative justice. Formerly incarcerated and historically oppressed people lead this work to achieve MIO’s purpose to build a world where everyone matters and belongs.

MIO practices a form of popular education, Theater of the Oppressed, to organize incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and system-impacted people to develop leadership and create community change inside prisons and in communities directly impacted by mass incarceration. Original theater is a tool to articulate vision, organize community, build power, and address the systemic roots of incarceration.

About the Position

MIO is seeking a Philanthropy Lead to join our growing team.  This is a full-time position with benefits with a start date of January 3, 2023. Salary: $63,600

Many parts of this job will be able to be done remotely and with flexibility. Regular meetings will be held at MIO’s physical location, in Lewiston, Maine.

In this important role you will ensure that MIO has the financial and other strategic resources to fully realize its purpose and mission through:

●    Raising resources for MIO’s work in line with our core values of trust, consistency, creativity, connection, love and purpose. In Maine Inside Out’s stated purpose, to build a world where everyone matters and belongs, and in our values, we find the inspiration for this commitment to equitable, community centric fundraising.
●    Initial primary focus of the role will be on maintaining and growing relationships with philanthropic foundations with a focus on grant writing and reporting. This will involve writing and submission for approximately 40 local, national and governmental grants per year.
●    In collaboration with executive leads of MIO, lead the Philanthropy team, to vision and implement revenue generating strategy annually and long term for MIO in order to responsibly scale the work of MIO overtime.
●    Facilitate the tracking of metrics and data, to provide accurate and timely grant compliance and reporting for all active grants. Work with MIO’s Finance Manager to prepare budgets and reports as needed.
●    Maintain current and develop new individual donor and business relationships based on meaningful and mutually beneficial goals.
●    Coordinate regular external communication in collaboration with MIO communications team, as well as individual communication with donors and businesses.
