Maine DHHS announces COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Funding Opportunity

Tuesday, August 3, 2021

Additional funds are available from Maine Department of Health and Human Services for COVID-19 vaccination activities that can be completed by December 31, 2021. These funds are available both to organizations that are currently receiving vaccine funds and have additional funding needs or additional activities that they could support with additional funds, and to organizations that do not currently have vaccine funds (or any other source of DHHS funding). Requirements and additional information are available in the attached instructions.

Approximately $1.5 million are available for allocation through this funding opportunity which will remain open until funds are fully allocated. For priority consideration, organizations must submit an online proposal by August 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. The link to submit proposals is included in the application instructions and applications must be submitted using this form. Applications submitted by e-mail or other formats will not be accepted. We strongly suggest that you use the application instructions to draft your proposals and then submit online when ready. The online form does not automatically save and you cannot edit responses after submitting. All applications received by the priority deadline will be reviewed the same time; submitting a proposal before then does not increase your likelihood of receiving funding.

Several organizations have asked how this funding relates to other funding opportunities. We expect several additional funding opportunities over the summer and fall including:

  • COVID-19 Vaccine Funding for 2022 and beyond
  • COVID-19 Social Supports Funding for 2022 and beyond
  • “Health Equity” Funding (likely in several different opportunities) as part of the CDC’s National Initiative to Address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk and Underserved, Including Racial and Ethnic Minority Populations and Rural Communities

This specific funding opportunities is only related to COVID-19 vaccination activities and is separate from the above three additional funding opportunities, as well as those more broadly available across the State of Maine.
