Maine Association for Charter Schools Seeks Executive Director

Friday, November 8, 2019

The Maine Association for Charter Schools (MACS) seeks a new executive director to advance its mission: enhancing student success by promoting and sustaining high-quality options within Maine’s public education system. Working with the board of directors and allies statewide, this individual will develop systems and strategies to expand the organization’s capacity and increase its impact in service to Maine students and families.

The state’s school choice movement is at a critical juncture. Recent legislation curtailed the creation of new charter schools and powerful defenders of the status quo are stifling discussion of other innovative public school options. MACS’ next executive director will ensure that the organization adapts successfully to the newly restrictive policy environment while increasing public awareness of the necessity of excellent public school options for thousands of Maine students.

The successful candidate will bring demonstrated strength in strategic planning, development, advocacy, financial management and public relations.
