Eastern Area Agency on Aging seeks Executive Director

Eastern Area Agency on Aging (EAAA) in Bangor, Maine seeks an experienced Executive Director to lead the organization. Since 1973, Eastern Area Agency on Aging has been providing seniors, adults with disabilities and caregivers with a variety of options, opportunities, resources and referrals throughout Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington counties.

The Executive Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating all programs, operations and activities of the Agency, working with the Board of Directors to formulate a vision and long term strategic plan, and assuming overall leadership and administration of the Agency and its programs.

This is an exciting time to take EAAA’s helm, with the pending opening this fall of a new center in Brewer for seniors, the Durgin Center, named after a former EAAA Board President, well-known Bangor City Council Chair, and lifelong advocate for seniors, Major General Nelson Durgin. The Durgin Center will have accessible space for 400+ seniors to attend classes, stay socially connected, and receive meals, and it will go a long way to help seniors recover from the increasing challenges of isolation, loneliness, and food insecurity faced during the pandemic.

Interested candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related area, and at least ten years of progressively-responsible non-profit management experience in providing social services to meet community needs, including at least 5 years of experience in a senior role with experience in program management, finance and human resources. Demonstrated success in management of a multi-disciplinary organization, fundraising, and strategic planning experience are preferred. Candidates should have extensive knowledge and understanding of the social services environment, especially the issues and challenges facing seniors, adults with disabilities and their caregivers, government funding and compliance with regulatory agencies. The beginning salary for this position, depending on qualifications, is $90,000-110,000.
