Board Member Spotlight: Marty Grohman of the Betterment Fund

Monday, September 28, 2015

Because MPC members work on every side of an issue--as funders, nonprofits, foundation trustees, and volunteers--MPC is uniquely positioned to make connections among our members and make Maine a better place to live, work, and play.

MPC is lucky to have a dedicated, engaged board. Over the next few months, we'll be welcoming our new board members in Member Spotlights - Board Edition. Read on to meet Marty Grohman of the Betterment Fund (and the Maine House of Representatives).

Welcome, Marty!

It's back to school time! What's one interesting thing you learned recently?

42% of Americans say they recycle even though 13% describe themselves as "green." I'm in both categories!

What drew you to join the MPC Board?

I want to become a better, more effective grantmaker and State Legislator. Plus, I think highly of the board and board chair Peter Taylor and am pleased to have an opportunity to work with them.

What are you most excited about for MPC for the coming year?

For MPC in the coming year, I think improved information exchange and grantmaking effectiveness via the Get on the Map project is a big opportunity.
