Board Member Spotlight: Joleen Bedard of United Way of Androscoggin County

Monday, November 2, 2015

Because MPC members work on every side of an issue--as funders, nonprofits, foundation trustees, and volunteers--MPC is uniquely positioned to make connections among our members and make Maine a better place to live, work, and play.

MPC is lucky to have a dedicated, engaged board. Over the past few months, we've been welcoming our new board members in Member Spotlights - Board Edition. Read on to meet Joleen Bedard of the United Way of Androscoggin County.

Welcome, Joleen!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, what's one thing you're thankful for in your work?

I’m thankful for many things with my work at United Way. I am supported by a great team and have the ability to engage with thoughtful donors and volunteers. I am also thankful for the impact that our work creates in our community – supporting children and families, allowing seniors to remain independent in their homes and providing shelter for people who need it most.

What drew you to join the MPC board?

I was first asked to join the Governance Committee. I am excited to join the board for several reasons, including building connections with other board members and funders across the state and helping MPC promote philanthropy and increase giving in the state of Maine.

What are you most excited about for MPC for the coming year?

As a new board member I am excited to work with the staff and volunteers and gain a complete understanding of the work of MPC and assess where my attributes can best support the organization.
