Building Connections for Maine Grantmakers

Grant Research

The most important piece of finding a funder that is a good fit for your organization is doing thorough research. We are happy to offer nonprofits in Maine resources and help related to grant research.

The Directory of Maine Grantmakers

The Maine Philanthropy Center produces a Directory of Maine Grantmakers with information on foundations located in Maine and that have a giving history to Maine. This Directory is available in an online version to all our Members, and is also for sale in a print version.

In-Person Research Help

Through our partnership with the Foundation Center, MPC has access to national databases of funders and grants through our office.

We highly recommend coming to a free tutorial on using our resources to start your research process. You are also welcome to visit our office to use our resources-- please make an appointment as we have a small staff and want to ensure someone is here to help you. If you are doing research in our office please fill out this form

If you are looking for federal grant opportunities they will be listed at, and if you are not able to come into our office to utilize our database you can look at foundation tax forms using these resources.

Below you'll find a listing of all our grant research resources.
