Presented by the Center for Disaster Philanthropy

Oftentimes, disaster-affected families and individuals face a long, complex and arduous recovery process. They need an advocate within the community to help them navigate and access all available resources.

Disaster case management (DCM), which enables and empowers local communities to work directly with disaster-affected families and individuals to determine and address specific needs, is essential to the recovery process.

In this webinar, Cari Cullen, director of the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s Midwest Early Recovery Fund, will highlight the new Disaster Case Management toolkit designed to help funders and nonprofits understand the DCM process. Speakers will share the benefits and importance of DCM, including examples from their own experiences. CDP regularly supports DCM programs in communities following a disaster.

At the end of the webinar, grantmakers will:

  1. Understand the principles and importance of disaster case management.
  2. Be aware of how community DCM programs intersect with government-sponsored case management programs.
  3. Learn from specific, real-life examples of successful DCM programs.

While primarily aimed at funders, it may also interest emergency managers, government staff, academics, disaster responders and nongovernmental organization staff interested in or working on disasters and other crises.
