Conversations about equity and inclusion in our sector have increased over the past few years, but how often do these conversations meaningfully take into account people with disabilities? Without disability rights we won’t achieve social justice.
According to data collected by Candid, since 2017, about 2.5% of dollars contributed by institutional funders in Massachusetts has gone to organizations supporting people with disabilities. While the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission reports that in 2019 there was a prevalence rate of 11.5% of individuals living with disabilities in communities throughout the Commonwealth.
In this session, we will elevate voices of funders and activists working in the disability rights space to hear how disability inclusion can be woven into all areas of a foundation’s work, as well as best practices for disability grant making.
