What if we held an election and everyone voted?

Join the co-authors of a new book, 100% Democracy: The Case for Universal Voting, as they tackle this question. They make the case that making voting a required civic duty for every citizen—which we do now for jury service and which 26 democratic countries now do, including Australia since 1924—would make dramatic improvements in  American democracy. Does philanthropy have a role to play?

Join the co-authors, along with our moderator, who wrote the Foreword for the book, as they discuss this game-changing idea in service to a more perfect democracy.
What will you learn?

  • How universal voting protects against voter suppression and the active disenfranchisement of U.S. citizens
  • Models and lessons the U.S. can learn from other countries around the world that have successfully implemented universal voting
  • Objections to universal voting and responses from proponents
  • Philanthropy's role in advocating for universal voting and where progress is already being made

Speakers

  • E.J. Dionne, Co-Author, 100% Democracy: The Case for Universal Voting
  • Miles Rapoport, Co-Author, 100% Democracy: The Case for Universal Voting
  • Heather McGhee (Moderator), Trustee, Rockefeller Brothers Fund
