This session is for funders interested in learning about mission related investments, program related investments (PRIs) and impact investing, in the climate and environmental realm. Thomas Mitchell, Finance and Community Investment Partner at the Sewall Foundation, will share the basics of how to use your investments to further your mission. Bryan Wentzell of the Maine Mountain Collaborative (MMC), Alec Giffin of the New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF), and Seth Brown of Quantified Ventures will present on the Exemplary Forestry Investment Fund, a project to attract private impact investment funding to improve Maine’s forests and achieve conservation outcomes. Focused initially in the Mountains of the Dawn region of western Maine, the EFIF will be a new, privately held long-term timber investment fund that applies Exemplary Forestry standards on large tracts of forests. Originally conceived of by NEFF alongside its early work on the Exemplary Forestry standards, the EFIF is now being jointly developed by NEFF, MMC, and Quantified Ventures to attract investors who are interested in both long term, stable investment, and quantifiable environmental results. There will be time for questions after the presentations. More information about EFIF can be found on the EFIF page.
