Presented by Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees

As Afghan newcomers continue to arrive and resettle in the United States, the immediate widespread attention following the official U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan has waned despite ongoing community needs. Many arrivals, for instance, are entering the United States on humanitarian parole rather than through the refugee resettlement program or on a special immigrant visa, and consequently will need short-term services as well as advocacy and legal assistance. Join Afghan American community leaders and GCIR in a conversation on what funders should know about the immediate needs of the community and how the Afghan diaspora is working to cultivate their long-term sustainability and bulid the power of the community.
