About the Common Grant Application

Every grantmaker has different guidelines, priorities and deadlines but all want to receive proposals that articulate how an applicant’s requested funds will be used.

The MPC Common Grant Application (CGA) was developed by MPC grantmaker members to enhance the overall quality of proposals they receive and to create efficiencies for grantseekers.

The CGA consists of a Request Form accompanied by either Application A or Application B. Both Application A and Application B have similar components, but the level of detail within the proposal narrative varies depending upon the dollar amount of the request. The Request Form provides essential data about your request and your organization. Begin by downloading the Request Form and saving it to your computer as a writable document. Now you are ready to enter your information. Use the Tab button to move through the various fields to enter the required information. Areas shaded in grey indicate areas where you can type. When the application is completed, email or print and mail it directly to the grantmaker. Also note that some grantmakers may require you to submit the Request Form as a letter of inquiry before being invited to submit Application A or B.

Important Reminders

Before sending a request to any of the grantmakers listed on the MPC site as accepting the common grant application, please review the funder’s guidelines and requirements as some may require additional materials.

The Maine Philanthropy Center is not a grantmaker. Please do not send grant proposals to MPC.
