January 27 - Philanthropic Leadership in Challenging Times
This program is open to grantmakers and foundation staff and trustees.
The charitable sector is facing unprecedented challenges. While needs continue to grow in communities throughout Maine as a result of the economic turmoil, funders and nonprofits must find a way to continue their work while coping with diminished resources. The full impact these shortfalls will have remains to be seen, but concern about the future for many nonprofit organizations is clear and it is inevitable there will need to be change within the sector.
Join your colleagues for a program that will offer national, regional and statewide perspectives on the current state of the philanthropic sector and provide a forum for grantmakers to share with one another what they are doing to address concerns within their own organizations and how they plan to respond and provide leadership for their grantees in this difficult time. Elaine Rosen, Chair of The Kresge Foundation in Detroit will share what they are doing as a major national funder, Gioia Perugini from Jane’s Trust will share what she is seeing across New England, and Meredith Jones will share a statewide view as the new president of the Maine Community Foundation.
The program is being hosted by TD Banknorth, a trade name of TD Bank, N.A.
