In 2005, a group of funders in Maine created a Common Grant Application that was adopted and used by several funders. Over time, this use of this application fell away and funders developed their own tools and processes. However, over the last several years, we’ve seen renewed interest in the adoption and use of an updated Common Grant Application. During this time, MPC hosted several workshops with nonprofits and funders to hear more about the potential challenges and benefits of creating this updated tool. At the same time, other philanthropy-serving organizations like Philanthropy Massachusetts and the Minnesota Council on Foundations were engaging in a similar process.
During this session, we will work in small groups to workshop the current working draft of the Common Grant Application. Our goal is to get the Maine version of the Common Grant Application completed by fall of 2024.
